The wedding cake is an essential part of the nuptial feast. It ends your wedding reception in Sorrento and Amalfi Coast, in the sweetest way. The wedding cake not only has to look beautiful, but also needs to taste delicious. The ingredients must guarantee freshness and lightness.

The history of the wedding cake dates back to the Roman Empire. Through the years, the wedding cake has become the focus of a variety of customs and traditions.
In Mediaeval England, cakes were described as a sort of bread which was flour-based without sweetening. No sources tell of a special type of cake appearing at wedding ceremonies.
 
However, some say about a tradition that involved stacking small sweet buns in a large pile in front of the newlyweds. The couple should have kissed over the pile.
If they had succeeded in the process they would have had many children in the future.
 
Early cakes were single-tiered plum cakes, with some variations. It took a while before the first multi-tiered wedding cake as we know it today, appeared in all its glory.
According to most, wedding cakes are "supposed to be" white, because white has always denoted purity.
