The civil ceremony can also be celebrated by a friend or a close family member (with the exception of grandparents, parents and children), in fact the Presidential Decree n. 396 of 3.11.2000, art. 1 paragraph 3, gives the possibility to celebrate the rite to a person other than the Mayor or a State Official. tYour friend will have to read the formula and the articles of the civil code (articles 143, 144, 147).
